Mission Patrimoine: Safeguarding and restoring French heritage

The “Mission Patrimoine” (Heritage Mission) entrusted to Stéphane Bern, implemented by the Fondation du Patrimoine (French national heritage foundation) and supported by the Ministry of Culture and FDJ, helps to safeguard French heritage.

To this end, since 2018, La Française des Jeux has a special “Mission Patrimoine” lottery offering in the form of Loto® scratch cards and draws.

Since 2018, more than €100 million has been raised to restore at-risk French heritage sites. This is the amount that would have been paid in taxes to the French State for Mission Patrimoine games, which is instead donated to the Fondation du Patrimoine.

The 2021 edition of Mission Patrimoine games raised more than €28 million.

Of the 745 projects selected since 2018 by Mission Patrimoine, 192 sites have already been restored and 228 are in the process of being restored.

A scratch card launched in August 2022

FDJ launched a new edition of the illiko® Mission Patrimoine scratch card on 29 August 2022. Available in three versions, this card highlights various traditional French buildings with brick, stone and timber façades, as well as the 18 emblematic sites selected by Mission Patrimoine in 2022. The €15 scratch card offers players a chance to win up to €1.5 million. A portion of the stakes, i.e. €1.83 per ticket purchased, is donated by the State to the Fondation du Patrimoine*.

A series of LOTO draws and a SUPER LOTO Mission Patrimoine draw in September 2022,
to mark the European Heritage Days

Six LOTO® draws, with jackpots of at least €2 million, were held on 5, 7, 10, 12, 14 and 17 September. For each €2.20 grid played, €0.54 was donated by the State to the Fondation du Patrimoine*.

A SUPER LOTO® of €13 million also took place on 16 September, on the eve of the European Heritage Days. This ‘special event’ draw was specifically held in support Mission Patrimoine.

*For each Illiko ticket purchased in the French Republic, 12.18% of the ticket price (i.e. €1.827) was donated to the Fondation du Patrimoine, equal to the amount that would have been paid in taxes to the French State for this game, which is instead donated to the Fondation du Patrimoine. For each LOTO and SUPER LOTO grid played in the French Republic, 24.334% of stakes (and 17.220% for the 2nd LOTO draw option) was donated to the Fondation du Patrimoine, equal to the amount that would have been paid in taxes to the French State for this game, which is instead donated to the Fondation du Patrimoine.
